An Allentown man died Tuesday after he was found unresponsive in his cell in Lehigh County Jail.

The county said in a news release that Arturo Wright, 32, was found about 2:15 p.m. Staff declared a medical emergency and began to administer CPR on him, according to officials.

Medical personnel arrived and assisted before EMS was called. Wright was taken to St. Luke’s Hospital-Allentown, where he was pronounced dead about 2:50 p.m.

Wright was jailed Sunday on local charges. He was charged with felony strangulation and a simple assault misdemeanor in an incident Friday in Allentown. He was also charged with misdemeanors of harassment and making terroristic threats for an incident Saturday in Allentown, according to court records.

County Coroner Daniel A. Buglio said Wright’s manner of death is suicide. The coroner’s office and Lehigh County district attorney’s pffice are investigating.

The coroner’s office is expected to release additional information once an autopsy is complete.
